According to 20thCentury Fox, distributor of Jumper, the movie had opened a day earlier in time for the Valentine celebration where couples usually spend the night with a movie date. Other movies that debuted last Thursday were “Step Up 2 The Streets”, “Spiderwick Chronicles”, and “Definitely, Maybe”. “Step Up 2 The Streets”, a sequel to the teen dance Disney movie, had debuted at number 2 with weekend ticket sales of $19.7 million and a total of $26.3 million since its opening last Thursday. Meanwhile, the “Spiderwick Chronicles” led by Mary Louise Parker with Freddie Highmore and released by Paramount Pictures had made it to the 3rd spot with earnings of $19.1 million on the opening weekend. The movie had already made $26.8 million since its debut. The romance movie, “Definitely, Maybe”, led by Ryan Reynolds, only landed on the 5th spot this week as “Fool’s Gold”, a romantic comedy that had debuted last weekend, clinched the 4th spot. “Definitely, Maybe”, a story of a man looking back on his life after receiving divorce papers, had a weekend premier of $9.7 million. |
